She pretends to be another woman to be with a man to get the mans woman think she"s cheating. The whole story is told in hindsight from dalinda"s perspective-she feels horrible. She fell in love with the wrong guy and was so in love she was willing to do anything for him. Dalinda falls for a visiting knight named ariodant. Polynesso wants dalinda to dress up like genevra during sex so he can at least feel like he made something. He wants to stage a scene that ariodant will see so that he will think genevra and polynesso are having sex.
