Zen buddhism: not a theistic religion, buddha is not god -- just human, enlightenment = spiritual break through - transforms life. The desire-driven life is dualistic: ego desire presupposes dichotomy, desire is always desires of something, that something is other than self, examples, thus, self-other; thus dichotomy! Live under delusion: dichotomies, self-other, self-world, having-not having, winning-losing, result = suffering because we want these things but cannot get enough of them. Goal: remove the delusion -- all is one: retrain consciousness to remove delusion so we can really focus on things, trust intuitive thinking, get rid of the clutter, the noise, peacefully focus. Transformative power: sport (western yoga: martial arts -- archery, judo, kendo, inner game of , flow, peak experiences, altered consciousness. Normally: worry about distance, pace, establish strategy, worry about competition, mind wanders, pain and discomfort intervene, can"t wait for the run to be over, relief, ego evaluation.
