It is important to evaluate all components of fitness when assessing the fitness level of an individual. There are people who can be at healthy weight for their height but have a high body fat percentage. Adaptation to stress: your fitness program has specificity- or that exercises are preformed for a certain component of fitness. In your workout plan, you are doing certain types of exercise to improve a specific fitness component. Ex: jogging, walking, cycling to improve cardio endurance. Lifting weights to improve muscular strength or endurance: example: a good exercise program includes exercise geared to each component, to different parts of the body, and to specific activities or sports. Individual differences: training can improve fitness, lower body fat, increase strength etc to certain extent, example: cardio endurance with training can increase 5-30% on average. Cardiovascular exercises: new dietary guidelines for americans: Reduce risk of chronic disease as adult: 30 minutes most days moderate intensity.
