Attribution theory tendency to give a causal explanation for someone"s behavior we often explain the behavior of others in 2 ways: By crediting a person"s personality or other personal qualities (dispositional attribution) He didn"t do his homework because he is lazy. He didn"t do his homework because his backpack was stolen. Internal/external causes: internal is about yourself, external is about others or the environment, stable/unstable causes, controllable/uncontrollable causes. Think about the last time someone was rude or mean to you in some way. False consensus effect overestimating the degree to which everyone else thinks or acts the way we do. Positive illusions: positive views of oneself that are not necessarily rooted in reality, those who have more of them are generally psychologically healthier.
