Document Summary

The application of evolution to development and human behavior. Intersection between phylogeny and ontogeny: phylogeny- related to the study of the evolutionary history of a population, ontogeny- related to the study of the development of the individual. Put differently, how does the development of our species (evolution) influence. Childhood is such a substantial cost, it must have substantial benefits: childhood is dangerous in all species. It is dangerous for any species to have a long childhood as it increases the length of time where an individual depends on another(others) for their safety. So for a species to have such a long childhood there must be a significant benefit to having such an extensive childhood. There is variation in traits and features among individuals. These variations and differences are inherited along generations.
