Optimism is a state of mind, that you are in all the time, not dependent on the circumstances. Positive bias becomes a motivator to overcome obstacles. Hope positive wanting or desire for an expectation (fulfillment) of getting it. Optimism far outranks pessimism in terms of healthy outcomes. They rely on the experiences they"ve had to figure out new problems, without avoiding them. Do not pretend problems don"t exist, or downplay them, or try to wish them away (being tender- (being tough-minded) minded) Humor the ability to perceive and enjoy what is comical or funny. Physiological effects: relaxing, lowers blood pressure, enhances immune system. Usually have to expend energy to keep serious (not relaxing) Often unhappy individuals because of a lack of trust in others.
