Sexual dysfunction: problems in physiological sexual response and unwanted low sexual desire. Paraphilic disorders: unconventional sexual interests that cause distress or impairment. Gender dysphoria: significant discomfort with one"s biological sex. A state of physical, emotional, mental, and social well-being related to sexuality; it is not merely the absence of disease, dysfunction, or infirmity. Sexual health requires a positive and respectful approach to sexuality and sexual responses, as well as the possibility of having pleasurable and safe sexual experiences, free of coercion, discrimination, and violence. William masters and virginia johnson famously studied normal sexuality, both physiological and mental, in-the-moment, in a laboratory setting (1950s to 1990s) Alfred kinsey and the kinsey institute at indiana university. Interviewed 18,000 men and women about sex between 1938 and 1956. Kinsey found so many differences between persons that he argued there was no boundary between normal and abnormal sexual behavior. His kinsey reports disputed commonly held sex beliefs at the time.
