WMNST 106 Lecture Notes - Lecture 6: University-Preparatory School, Allentown, Pennsylvania, Leotard
Document Summary
The gym was my home; i grew up as a competitive, junior-olympic gymnast at one of the most competitive gymnastics facilities in the country. What this meant was gymnastics was (what i considered) my first priority, my life and a full time job. Because of my commitment to the program, i had to switch schools to a private college- preparatory school that would cater to my intense practice and competition schedule. Needless to say, i did not fit in to the normal mold of teenagers and my peers around me. The norm for the majority of the kids i knew meant going to school, playing on school sports teams or joining clubs at school, shopping, dating, weekend plans at the movies, or sleepovers on weekends. But the funny thing is, i did not care about any of this. I did not really want to be normal in that sense.
