Factors that facilitated the assimilaion of western music in the 19th century: the colonizaion, the systemaic denunciaion of african tradiional music, the spread of chrisianity by the missionaries. In addiion to the sacred music types, various kinds of secular types of modern composiion also emerged and developed as art music.
