Precedent for today is miller v. california. Community standards can decide what kind of speech isn"t protected. Hicklin said something could be banned for one specific part of it being obscene. Roth said something could be banned for its big-picture ideas being obscene. Mackinnon says porn makes men think they know what women want because of what they have seen women do in porn. Porn convinces men that what happens in porn is natural, and because of this they do not listen to what women actually say they want.
