Source: the person who creates and sends a message. Frame of reference: allows us to create and interpret messages. Message: the thought, feeling, or action that is sent from the source to the receiver. Channel: vehicle by which a message is communicated (tv) Encoding: process of putting ideas into meaningful symbols (easy to understand) Decoding: interpreting or attaching meaning to another person"s message. Noise: intended or unintended stimulus that impacts sender"s message (internal external ) Internal noise: our own thoughts or feelings that prevent us form listening to someone else"s message. Factors that interfere with listening delivery: a speaker"s particular style, voice, dress or appearance, bodily movements. Jargon: highly specialized worded used and understood by speci c groups of people. Message overload: paying too much attention to the details instead of he main message/ listen for central ideas and connections to secure the major theme. Active listening: listening with a sense of purpose.
