Muscles can move because they received a signal from the nervous system. Exception: diaphragm moves subconsciously and shivering is also involuntary. Auto rhythmic- can generate its own action potential so does not need signal from nervous system. Not striated, involuntary muscle, and some are auto rhythmic especially in the digestive systems: functions of muscle tissue, producing body movements, integration of bones, joints, and skeletal muscle producing movement, stabilizing body positions. Tendon is woven into the periosteum of the bone. The outer most layer is called the epimysium which is a bundle of bundles.
