Social psychology : the scientific study of how individuals think, feel, and behave in a social context. Each part of this definition needs to be examined closely: Based on systematic observation, not just normal observation. A lot of the stuff in media isnt based on scientific study. Encompasses everything that it means to be human, like our private and even unconscious thoughts and attitudes. How can we measure a study- operational definition. Ex for measuring attraction, u could measure heart rate, pupil dilation, proximity. Social psychology concerns a diverse set of topics. The focus is on the psychology of individual. Looks at the social nature of individuals. But, the socialness of social psychology varies from study to study. So anything that concerns other people or where other people are affecting us- that is social psych. Relevant when thoughts, feelings, or behaviors either (1) concern other people, or (2) are influenced by other people.
