Both are women but have physical differences (skin tone) Subject: position you take on in society, what people see you as. Essence: being a woman and what that biology means. The subject has an essence that we need to get to. Don"t have a word in english for gender neutrality. Subjective: rebellion because there"s no word in our culture. Should it exist on a specific spectrum instead of be binary. The other: what is unfamiliar to us, must confront when it speaks and how. Defined by the dominant culture: transgender is binary to male and female. Intervention/agency: when the other is given opportunity to speak change to the social order. Psychoanalysis: father is dominant and the other. Traumatic experience for child in realization of the differences. Engagement with other allows for confrontation and ideas about the world. Race studies: other is usually a white, canonical male. We try to write out the other in canonical literature.
