May add up to 6 inches longer (15cm) for placement near the bottom of the stomach (on adult) Aspirate contents of stomach: check color, volume, gastric: cloudy, tan, green, off white (large volume) Intestinal: clear, yellow to bile colored (small volume) Ph of aspirate: gastric: 1-5 lungs: 7 or more. Bolus feeding continuous feeding types of feeding. High fiber or residual free low glycemic index standard: whole proteins (milk, meat, eggs) Hydrolyzed: partially digested proteins for patients with ibd, cf, pancreatic disorders. Change tubing/feeding as per policy: replace all equipment every 24 hours.
