Evaluation apprehension theory: people judge us. Distraction conflict theory: person performing a task in the presence of others, there is a conflict. To pay attention to the audience, or to the task at hand: this conflict causes us to get aroused, social facilitation effect occurs. Mere presence: just the presence of others puts off hormones. A group of five has less ideas than five students working alone. You can forget what you wanted to say. People put less effort in in a group- social loafing. When you want to speak, you may be rehearsing it in your head and you miss what someone else has said.
