Abstract of chemical equilibrium
This objective of this experiment is to understand the equilibrium in chemical reactions and calculate the
Keq from the results achieved from the lab. In this experiment, we made five solutions of 2.00 x 10-3 M of
FeNO3, 3.00 x 10-3 M KSCN, and 0.25 M HNO3 in different ratio in test tubes and then we have
transferred those solutions in cuvettes. Setting spectrometer at 447 wavelength we measured absorbance
using five solutions, prepared earlier. As the concentration of KSCN was increasing the solution was
turning dark orange color from light orange. Filling one cuvette 2/3 full with HNO3 to use as a blank to
measure the absorbance accurately. As the molarity of SCN increases, the absorbance of solution also
increase.
