Objective assessment-tests that do not rely on the judgment of the administrator: clear measure emerge from these tests. Subjective assessment- measurement that relies on interpretation: problems with subjective assessment: Even when they do agree, they may still be wrong: advantages of subjective assessment. Complex phenomena may be examined and valuable insights gained. Thus, many commonly used personality tests use subjective assessments. This doesn"t mean that tests should not be used, it just means that we must be careful in our interpretations, and context to which results are applied. It can be difficult to spot biases in our own theories. Gender bias- if we throw out or ignore data that supports one gender over the other: iq favors males, nurturing, cooperative nature, personality tests, like other tools, can be misused. Self report tests; these are usually pencil and paper tests (questionnaires): minnesota muliphasic personality.
