Photoautotrophs- use sunlight to make organic molecules form co2. Producers- they generate organic carbon that can cycle through other members in the ecosystem. Dependent on producers for source of organic carbon. Wavelength- peak to peak distance (1) most biological processes use only visible light. E to be useful and use it to do something (make chemical bonds/ reduce compounds) but not enough energy to hurt us. Gama rays and x-rays hurt us. (2) micro(cid:449)a(cid:448)es and stuff don"t ha(cid:448)e enough e to help us. So high energy stuff has super short-wave length. Photons are e that can be absorbed by e- energized e-. Energized e- shift from lower e orbital to higher e orbital. Return to lower orbital (ground sate) emit heat and emit light (fluorescence) (not helpful to us) Leave atom, captured by acceptor (redox reactions) occurs in photosynthesis. Light summary- wave, but had particles called photons.
