Cleavage: series of mitotic divisions without growth (m phase, s phase, repeat) Blastulation: cell migration to form a hollow ball. -> blastula: hollow ball of cells around blastocoel (cavity) Zygote --> larva --> adult - e. g. insects. Homeobox genes: code for proteins that regulate expression of developmental genes. Extremely similar to choanocytes of sponges (color flagellates) *fig 32. 3.
