Guarded cells - gas exchange trichomes: desert spp - reduce water loss, and reflect any excess sunlight, vascular. Support: 2 types of vascular tissue. Xylem - used in transporting water and minerals from roots of shoots. Phloem - transports sugars from leaves to and from roots: vascular tissue contain the stele. Part of the plant which contains all of the vascular tissue. Stem and leaf stele - vascular bundles: ground tissue system, most of plant, many cell types.
