(ape-like) pliopithecus was an ape-like creature that was the ancestor of the gibbon, a long- armed ape. Appeared 22 million years ago (ape-like) proconsul was the ancestor of the chimpanzee and the gorilla. Since fossils were found at a similar site, people thought that proconsul lived at the same time as pliopithecus (ape-like) dryopithecus was an ape, quadruped. Remains found in china, northern india, europe. No full skeleton was found but a few jaws with teeth were found (ape-like) oreopithecus was a bipedal ape, 4 feet tall, weighed about 80lbs, called a variant ape (deviating from normal) Arboreal lifestyle - lived in trees, could swing from tree to tree with opposable thumbs and prehensile tail like a fifth arm (between ape and hominid-like) ramapithecus was the earliest man-like primate found so far. Oldest of man"s ancestors in a direct line as shown by teeth, dental arch, and jaws (hominid-like) australopithecus was a hominid.
