Document Summary

Network era: 1940-1980"s: no choice in what to watch. There were three channels, and people were limited to what was on at the time. There was no remote controller either: number one show in the 70"s was all in the family, about blue collar workers and every day social issues. People would turn on the tv and watch the show all at the same time 66 million viewers. Cable was invented, which increased choice with television. People also had to subscribe to whatever cable package they wanted and they would have to pay to watch. With this era came convenience and control. People had a remote control and vhs came about. People can record their favorite shows for later. Hd broadcasting also became available to the public. Dvr - no time restraints, no tape, and no storage problems. Cable boxes built dvrs into their cable boxes, giving more control to the consumer.
