Use excel for : financial data, share analysis on quantitative numbers, to organize data, to create charts. Excel = made of columns & rows: take column & row to nd individual cell (letter & number) Clipped data: data too long for a cell will appear to ow into the next cell when that cell"s empty. Columns represent categories all elements w/i that column will be of same nature. Accounting style utilizes decimals b/c it"s dealing w/ currency (also incorporates dollar sign to the left); if your answer is zero, it also shows a dash/hyphen. Power of excel = ability to sort data: found under data tab sort button. Cell that represents upper left hand corner & lower right hand corner = range of data (separated by colon) Excel = useful b/c it does math: there are 250 pre-created functions/formulas for us to use, to create a formula, start off with equal sign; you can then compute cell values.
