Tag pair surrounds text to be formatted (or acted upon) like parentheses. Html page structure: 7 required (and very nice to have) tags. Need to have certain tags in every webpage- 5 required, 2 nice to have. 5 required tags: doctype, html, head, meta, body. 2 nice to have: and - title bar (page tab) name, and - paragraph tags. -- specifies it is an html document. The title-- shows up as the tab name.
