Our practice is based on formal and informal research (principles and theories) We refine our practice daily based on informal research. Quasi-experiment: experimental group without a control group, groups occur naturally. Experiment: randomly assigned to control and experimental. Any profession bases its practice on evidence. Principles: statement that identifies a fairly consistent finding regarding cause and effect related to a particular phenomena. Theory: integrated set of concepts and principles developed to explain a particular phenomenon. Hook: way to introduce a topic, to increase interest in topic and lesson. Previewing a reading: discuss why they are reading. Observe the student and collect data in and out of the classroom. Identify and praise strengths as well as positive behavior (shaping) Continue to monitor the behavior for decreases in frequency or severity. Once new positive behaviors are establed used intermittent reinforcement. One thing leads to another, one step at a time.
