The night of the hunter by charles laughton. Kind lady talks to children and the audience among the stars at the start of the film, and then appears back again at the end of the film. She talks about the children enduring and abiding, and references biblical quotes. Different biblical stories referenced about little jesus escaping from king herod, a story about little moses being found in his little basket along the river. Powell"s story about his hands, how hate and love mix together and love overpowers. John is the central character in this film. He is the one who grows and matures and changes throughout the film. He is always with and taking care of pearl. His father relies on him, and his mother worries for him, but eventually abandons him for powell. The preacher chases him and tries to hurt him. Powell is literally a wolf, and the flattest character.
