May need to de-chlorinate before discharging into stream. Objective: remove other than bod or ss. A big issue with drinking water is sanitation. September 2008--st. peters hospital in new brunswick. Put black marks on homes where cholera deaths occurred. Discovered that many deaths occurred near a specific well. Found out that drinking from that well led to cholera death. First ever public health measure--removed pump handle so people could not use it anymore. Wealthier area of london that was going to start to have running water inside the home instead of having to go to the well to get water. Got water from london, where the water was more polluted.
