Document Summary
Dynamic gait index: measure patients functional balance and postural stability for predicting the risk of fall. Scoring max=24, less than 19=increased fall risk, 22 or more=safe no risk of fall. Need tape, water bottles, shoe box, set of small stairs. Fab(fullerton advanced balance scale: designed to measure balance in higher functioning older active adults. Test the static and dynamic balance under varying sensory conditions. Heart rate: heart rate is the number of times the heart beats per minute bpm. For the elderly resting heart rate is 60-100 bpm. Abnormal heartbeats: arrhythmia- any change in normal heartbeat sequence. Brandycardia: heart rate below 50 beats per minute. Tachycardia: heart rate greater than 100 bpm. (88% over the age of 70 experience this) Heart rate areas: carotid, brachial, radial, femoral, superficial temporal artery. Healthy heart-50-60% , losing weight 60-70%, benefit and endurance 70-80%
