Birth rate decreases- women have more access to birth control/contraceptives, federal policy (china restricts the number of children a couple can have) More mouths to feed (children weren"t working in factories)- families became smaller. Malthus- concern of population growth, predicts it will even out eventually. The birth rate is decreasing more and more- it is becoming more common for younger generations to only have one child. Higher (gender inequality- women are more compelled to have kids) Teleology- reason or explanation for something in function of its end, purpose, or goal. Cultures in stages interact in real time; they aren"t separated by time. Conditions this describes are often a result of these interactions (colonialism, etc,) Sets up a hierarchy: more advanced and less advanced, developed and developing. Four horsemen of the apocolypse - each one represents war, famine, conquest, death. Lack of sanitation (as people moved to cities sanitation improved) Ignorance of pathogenic transmission (bad air, the passing of disease)
