Exams: questions before exam, require 1-3 paragraph response to only 5 questions. Paper: assigned after midterm (3-6 pages) choice of topic. Dictionary definition: an investigation into the nature, causes, or principles of knowledge, reality, and values based on logical reasoning, rather than emperical methods. A type of knowledge; deeper knowledge, metaphor of death. Understanding things on a deeper level (life) don"t stay on the surface. Philosophy is not measurable or quantifiable, its based solely off of theory, and logical reasoning rather than a scientific method. Science exists inside of a box, reality as it appears" to our senses. Philosophy goes beyond science, and thinks outside the box, beyond the quantifiable/empirical. Focuses on areas relating to knowledge, reality, and values. Investigation of justified belief vs. opinion": what is knowledge, how is knowledge distinct from belief, knowledge involves belief, knowledge: true belief. A post eriori: knowledge dependant upon experience.
