Hume is an empiricist by believing that all the materials of thinking are derived either from our outward senses or from our inward feelings: all that the mind and will do is mix and combine these materials . And what is the relation between the two: impressions are basically our lively and vivid perception which is when we hear or see or feel or love or desire. But ideas are what arise when we reflect upon our impression and they are not as vibrant as our impression. Explain the difference with an example: hume"s says that our complex ideas are composed of simple ideas which are composed of a simple impression. Take any idea, no matter how complex or sublime (for example, the idea of god), can be reduced to simple ideas that are copies of a feeling or sensation.
