Thought that the elite should live up in high up buildings and that is the same idea behind public housing- how even if it is public housing there should be a feeling of elitism. Wanted to have public housing as part of the city beautiful movement. We need to remember that when we look back on the past that we need to view things in context. Wanted to boost city morale when they see how beautiful it is. The way paris is now, it is very beautiful but it did come at a cost. Spaces mean what is special to the community and where they believe that is only for them and they can be themselves. You have to remember that it may not be physically beautiful but it makes people feel beautiful because it is a place in which they can be themselves. If you take their spaces away, you are also hurting the people who use those spaces.
