Document Summary
We think about how people behave the way they do. We come up with our own explanations all the time. But some of our intuitions are right and others are wrong. The scientific study of behavior gives us a systematic way to use data to determine which intuitions are correct, and which are not. Data can confirm or challenge what we believe to be true based on observation and experience. All theories must be tested objectively without bias toward what you want to be true. Ideas that pass one test may be disproved after further tests. Karl popper, the logic of scientific discovery, chapter 1. Science a systematic search for knowledge whose validity does not depend on the particular individuals but is open for anyone to check or rediscover. Non-science any hypothesis that makes statements, which in principle, cannot be disproved (reiki, faith healing)
