The polis: center of the good life for plato and aristotle (particularly him) where one learns about what justice is the concrete everyday decision making. Polis as center of good life + justice . Individuals as parts of a whole part of a community to be a citizen is to be responsible for your entire community, not just yourself. The polis is where it all begins . The polis is where our idea of politics comes from. From the very beginning, politics in athens is supposed to be about deliberation. Though they don"t deliberate the way modern american jury might, they are sitting there among friends listening to testimonies: ecclesia (cid:0) assembly of all citizens deliberation about the big stuff. Not everyone is a citizen (women and slaves certainly are not) but there is a huge citizen body and they participate in a wide range of issues (cid:0)
