Acceptance of the self is correlated with acceptance from others. Adolescents with low self-esteem are usually invisible. They don"t join clubs and do not express their opinions. If child doesn"t know who they are, they are a target for bullying. These individuals develop feelings of isolation and alienation and this can cause a vicious cycle of low self-esteem. Bullies do not always have low self-esteem. These individuals may suffer a role strain. Competing demands pull them in different directions. This usually happens with the entry to middle school. Popular teens can lean on their friends, however the less popular find themselves being teased and bullied. He was focused on people becoming themselves. We have motivation and want to achieve. We have the ability to look ahead and know we are going to die. We can change things as we go. Unlike freudian psychoanalytic theory, not focused on libido and sexual gratification.
