Hard to manage high highs and low lows. Might engage in self-harm to feel something. Extremely poor capacity to engage in effective relationships. Often experience chronic feelings of emptiness, and they may make excessive efforts to avoid abandonment. Need others to feel whole, so they tend to pull away. Those diagnosed with bpd are often overshadowed by intense emotional pain and distress. Sense of negativity towards individuals with bpd, who are regularly stereotyped by health professionals and often assumed to be manipulative and attention seeking (fallon 2003) Person does not know how to deal with their emotions, so this is how they deal with them. They do not know this is going on.
