The andrea yates case psychosis (hallucinations, delusional thinking) - she drowned her 5 kids in the bathtub. She heard voices and believed that she was a bad mom, drowned them so they can go to heaven instead of be her children and become criminals. Psychological/emotional: her father died, being in that cramped bus environment trying to homeschool 4 boys (stressful) Social/cultural: she didn"t have network of friends, husband didn"t change diapers or helped out. Behavioral: she was feverishly into the bible (to an extreme) and took the preacher"s words to heart. One dimensional model: the reason why you"re exhibiting anxiety is all to do with the conflict inside you one good reason. Multidimensional integrative approach: there are multiple reasons that fed into this and cause illnesses and disorders. Diathesis stress model: integrative model that links genetic, neurobiological, psychological, and environmental factors.
