Document Summary

Lexical access & morphology november 6, 2017. Inflectional morpheme: grammatical morphemes: don"t add anything in terms of meaning, just adds on to it few in english, and don"t necessarily store these words in the lexicon. More about storing root morpheme and adding on one of the available morpheme add-ons (ie store hike but to denote past, just do hike + -ed) Definition: create a new word with a new meaning: expand the lexicon. Can add to these and create a new word with new meaning: may be holes in lexicon can"t say *badder. Could be due to simply being a hole. May also be because there is another/better way of saying the word (ie *badder is essentially worse: many more of these & they are constantly being invented. Do we have one entry and in its definition, all its different forms. Or is it a single entry for each of the forms.
