The rural-urban shift is associated with other changes, which are simultaneously occurring and are intertwined: A demographic shift from younger to older populations. A technological shift from low to high mechanization and motorization. An epidemiologic or health shift from infectious diseases to non communicable diseases. A nutritional shift from traditional foods and cuisines to more processed, energy-dense foods 3 food. And health research indicates that there is close association between the food we consume and health.
