While residing in tusita heaven, other gods eventually determine that the time has come for him to become a buddha. They beg him to be reborn in jambudipa (the human realm) to save mankind from the unhappiness of samsara. He was now worthy of buddhahood because he had perfectly perfected the ten perfections. The bodhisatta was then reborn into the gotama clan of the high-caste khattiya (skt. An immaculate conception, occasioned by a dream of a white elephant entering the womb of his mother, maya, who gave birth to him in lumbini, and died 7 days later. Upon birth he declared - i am chief in the world, best in the world, first in the world.
