Reading: building a movement to end the new jim crow: an organizing guide (chps. Often function on their own; they are their own political power. Example: advocates would go to the mayor"s office to get them to respond to the earthquake and provide assistance to the people: often function in larger groups. Address not only the immediate issue, but also the overarching causes and/or malfunctions in the system. Their political power stems from their functioning as a group.
