Blood/bone marrow: blood culture and vacutainer with sps, disinfect site with alcohol, draw blood and do w/in 2hrs must be incubated 37c, plate: bap, bba anaerobic, direct gram stain from positive blood cultures. Bone: sterile and screw cap, disinfect skin before procedure, take sample from affected area, immediately report, plate asap, bap, mac, thio, gram stain. Csf fluid: sterile screw cap, disinfect skin before aspirating specimen, rapid testing, <15minutes or incubate 37c, bap, thio, gram stain.
