Mexican american war ended with signing the treaty of guadalupe hidalgo with a boundary as the rio grande. Left us with a huge amount of terrority, therefore a huge loss to mexico. Left a legacy of oppression and hatred. Mexican citizens were converted into american citizens overnight. Mexicans living in texas chose to return to mexico. But those who stayed relied on the treaty to protect their right.
