ENS 332 Lecture Notes - Lecture 3: Asymptote, Citric Acid Cycle, Acetyl Group
Document Summary
The shape of the relationship matters: hyperbolic shape asymptote of critical power, everything above is sustainable exercise, everything below is non-sustainable exercise, determines the shape of the curve. Curvature constant (w"): volume of work that can be expended quickly or slowly. Power: the objective task that you can measure. Intensity: the description of how it will make you feel: measured in watts. Moderate intensity: exercise below the lactate threshold, exhibit constant power exercise rises exponentially until a steady state, theoretically can do this forever with the right motivation, food, and is reached hydration. Above critical power (very heavy intensity: headed toward limit of tolerance, cannot sustain this will fail, rises exponentially to the limit, will reach the limit of tolerance at about the same time the system"s will. Any power above critical power will raise your above the limit reach its limits. Reaching is not determinant of reaching limit of tolerance. Measure what goes in and out of the lung.
