It is influenced by attitudes about the behavior, by social pressures to perform that behavior (subjective norm), and the amount of perceived control: attitude, positive or negative evaluation of performing a behavior, traits. It is a function of basic behavioral beliefs, which are in turn are influenced by the perceived consequences of carrying out a specific action. It is also influenced by our self-evaluation of these consequences: subjective norm, think about the behavioral beliefs associated with eating healthy, perceived social pressure felt from doing / not doing a behavior, traits. It is a function of normative beliefs (i. e. what is deemed normal and appropriate: these are often determined by the perceived expectations of others who hold significant importance to you (e. g. family, doctor) It is also determined by the individual"s motivation to comply with these expectations: perceived control, perceived ease or difficulty or performing a behavior, traits.
