Document Summary
Second wave feminism (1960s-1980s): equality in all things; education, work, pay, childcare, household chores, etc. Pro-pornography feminism: pornography is sexually empowering for women. The production and distribution of pornography is immoral because it is harmful to people. Legal restrictions on pornography are appropriate and not incompatible with the first amendment. Behavior which causes injury or violation of another person or people, whether physical or psychological, is immoral. Voluntary sex acts amongst adults are moral, as long as they are consensual, are moral consensual, are moral. Nor puritanical conception of sex being immoral in itself. Cannot condemn certain sex acts merely because we find them distasteful. Does not imply we should accept pornography because it isn"t merely distasteful, it is harmful to people. Pornography: verbal or pictorial representations of sexual behavior that degrade and demean the role and statues of the human female as a mere sexual object to be exploited.
