Reality tv shows, literature:romance novels, magazines, interviews, surveys. Us scripts are guided by notions of romance: love is all you need; a loving woman heels an aggressive or indifferent man. Strong belief that love is necessary for relationships; relationships lead to marriage. Dating seen as a game; a competition. In much the world, marriages are arranged by family members not by the bride and groom; strengthening social status is key. Studies show among young, white college students, men are more likely to believe true love comes only once, lasts forever, and overcomes obstacles.
