It"s time for an annual study of the islamic world on human progress. The islamic development bank could take the lead in financing such a report being developed by an independent group of islamic region experts. To this end, they need to set a 10-15 year time horizon, select achievable goals and cost them realistically. They would then devise a realistic financial plan, restructure their current goals, mobilize additional domestic capital and pursue additional outside assistance. Bangladesh and pakistan have already developed human development strategies and addressed them with the world bank-led international consortia. We are also introducing aggressive social action projects to tackle crucial inequalities in human growth. Morocco and tunisia are in the process of drawing up national plans.
