Oppression is barriers that immobilize and reduce a group or category of people. Oppression is people pushing or putting other people down. In other words, oppression is when people make other people less human. (page 1) Connections to personal experiences or implications for your work: This reading is a reminder that there are many different types of oppression. Its not just visible forms that are obvious. The face of oppression that struck me most was powerlessness. As a teacher, i think it is important to try our best to make our students feel like they have a purpose. Students come from all different backgrounds and past. It is important that they all realize that know matter what anyone says they do matter.
